Prepare for major lolz

I bought my mom a digital picture frame for Christmas. These are the pictures I put on it.

I'm about 2 to 5 in these pictures.

Awww, happy couple. This is around when my parents first got serious.

Mullet + man makeup = DOUBLE LOLZ!!!

This is when they first started dating. There's so many hickies in this picture. Rick's gonna be so embarassed HAHAHA.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIRT. I hate the 90s.

Aww, me and my two cousins, Chrissy and Bobby and my Uncle Robert in the back. They have horses, obv, and would bring ponies to my birthday parties.

My grandmom. The anniversary of her death was Monday. 11 years.

And my pops.

Saturday, December 20, 2008

So I got my grades for the semester and I'm really proud of myself:

Foundations of Moving Image Art: A
Moving Image Production: A-
Biology of Human Reproduction: A
Writing and Rhetoric II: B+

My W&R number grades was an 89.1 and I mean, okay, B+ is good, and my GPA is a 3.764... but... EIGHTY NINE POINT FUCKING ONE?! I'm less than a point off of an A-. That shit's just really annoying.

Spent the past few nights with Ken and even though we argued a lot cause I'm on my period I'm always the happiest there. His mom took us out for sushi and that was the shit. Then today I hung out with my mom and that was a good time, we went to Neshaminy which was hilarious. I saw CJ for the first time in like at least four years. He invited me to see his "band" on Friday and I would've gone but I'm having a reunion with my writer biddies <3 I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE SEAN<33333333

OH - I visited CAPA on Monday and that was pretty interesting. Held hands with my boo Angie, went to Oregon Diner and then Dennis was gracious enough to make an appearance.

I was gonna write more but then I got caught up in being head over heels for John Waters and watching any and all interviews I could YouTube of him. My lips are chapped and my achey legs are telling me I should've been in bed hours ago.

It is really, really good to be home.

My mom is such a great person and I hate how much I took her for granted before I left. It's not that I never realized how much she does for me - I was just always a little spoiled cunt about it. Sure she's crazy, but I'm sure my insanity surpasses hers.

She picked me up from the airport. I was really upset because Ken was supposed to get me first but he ended up having to switch shifts with someone at work. Then my cousin was supposed to go with her and she ended up having to work as well. So my mom's truck pulls up and I open the back door and Ken karate chops the shit out of me and I was so scared and glad I had peed before finding my way outside. So I was really happy and talked a mile a minute during the ride home. Finally get to the apartment and opened the door and SURPRISSSEEEEE!!! Rick, Chrissy, Marc, Danielle and Holman were all here. I cried cause, sorry, I'm an emotional fucking person. It was really good to hug my cousin and cuddle my cat who I'm pretty sure doesn't know who I am anymore. We ate pizza and champagne flavored soda?!?!!!?? And I was just really happy that my mom set that all up for me. Especially cause I thought she was gonna beat the shit out of me when I got home due to some recent events that I don't feel like talking about.

Long story short - my mommy loves me lolzzzz. And I can't wait to start reuniting with all my bitches!!!! I think first stop is Angela on Monday<3333 and maybe an appearance at CAPA?!?!?!

Something interesting

In my college textbook for Biology of Human Reproduction, one of the first sentences in the Birth Control chapter is "The most reliable method of birth control is abstinence...has the added advantage of preventing transmission of sexually transmitted diseases."

Now, it does go on to talk about other things but that struck me as a little... I don't know.

I just had the sudden urge to register for a Tai Chi class. So I did.

NIGGA NEXT SEMESTERS GONNA BE THE SHIIIIIT.

Saturday, December 6, 2008

This is everything I did today besides my paper:

-Checked out a camera and other equipment for someone that isn't myself.
-Watched Britney Spears: For the Record.. for maybe the fifth time.
-Rearranged my living room for the third time.
-Watched three episodes of True Life.
-Ate Toaster Strudel.
-And buttered noodles.
-And mac and cheese.
-Watched Run's House (best show ever).
-Talked to my mom.
-Talked to Ken.
-Now I'm watching "Accepted".

I can't wait to come home. I can't wait til I get this paper done. I can't wait to start working when I get back home. I can't wait to start rollin in da benjaminz. I can't wait to get a hair cut. I can't wait to get laid. I can't wait to see my frandz. I can't wait for the Writer's reunion. I can't wait to visit CAPA. I can't wait to visit Bluebond. I can't want for Philly's smog to pollute my lungs. I can't wait to eat Wawa mac and cheese. I can't wait to go to Sonic. I can't wait to see my cousin. I can't wait to start up our late night Liberty Bell visits again. I can't wait for Christmas. I can't wait to have the John Waters box set that I better be getting for Christmas. I can't wait to replace my medusa jewelry. I can't wait to visit New York with Sean. I can't wait to possibly go to Canada. I can't wait to cuddle my cat against her will. I can't wait to go home.

Sunday, November 30, 2008

Best week ever and now it's over. They left around 8:30 this morning and I'm so sad, sitting in my empty apartment and it's raining. I usually love the rain but not today. I'm already counting down the days til I come home.

Monday: Ken arrived around 1. I made him an awesome cake and he loved it!

We cuddled alot, walked around Michigan and he got to meet Rachel. We had Thai Spoon for dinner. He didn't like it and I called him a freak. Then we came home, he met Breanna, we watched Tropic Thunder and SEEEEEEEXXXXXX.'

Tuesday: Got up early and went to the breakfast buffet next to the Best Western we stayed at when I first moved here. Then I took him to the film building and let him watch us record the narration for my final film. He met one of my teachers, Julian, and I think Ken has a bigger crush on him than I do. He also met Britt, who came over after recording the narration, and we ended up re-recording all the sound for my film. Ken helped out and he actually had a good time doing it. I was nervous he'd be mad we were doing work but it was fun slamming doors and dragging backpacks full of books to sound like dead bodies. I think we had Jimmy John's for lunch that day and he had an orgasm over the fucking alfalfa sprouts and bread.

Wednesday: Danielle and Holman got here around noon but went right to their hotel to sleeeeeep like lil babiezz. Me and Ken walked around Michigan again cause on Monday I had seen the most adorable bank ever and, being the best boyfriend ever, he bought it for me:

Awwwwwwwwwww. Then Dani and Ho-Tang finally met up with us. I gave them a grand tour of my apartment and we sat around for a bit eating the delicious brownies I made them.

I took them to the RHA Thanksgiving dinner where I fucking dominated at foosball!!! We ate lots of food and Marissa showed up which was cool. Then we went food shopping for dinner the next day and it was a motherfucking madhouse. Worst food shopping experience ever. Came back here and chiiiilllled and I helped Danielle bake apple pies for Thanksgiving.

Thursday: BEST THANKSGIVING EVER!!! Me and Ken got up early to peel potatoes. I started cooking my sweet potato casserole and even though it didn't turn out as well as I hoped (needed more potatoes and less cooking time) I was still really proud that I made it from scratch. No canned shit here!! Dani and Ho-Tang showed up around 1 and we cooked everything else. Marissa came over around 4 with some lasagna and we got to eating not too long after that. We had Nightmare Before Christmas on while we ate which was cute. God damn, we had SO much food. My fridge is packed with everything but the turkey. Lemme list this shit we had:
1. Turkey
2. Sweet potato casserole
3. Baked mac and cheese
4. String bean casserole
5. Baked potatoes
6. Lasagna
7. Stuffing
8. Biscuits
9. Two apple pies

Needless to say, we all needed a nap afterwards. Got up, has some motherfucking PIE!! Then me and the ladiez went swimming while the men folk watched cause they're fucking pussies. Ended up also playing some foosball and watching South Park on the giant TV downstairs.

Friday: Danielle and Holman came over around noon and we watched Polyester. After having Thanksgiving leftovers for lunch everyone napped for a bit. Finally got up, downed some coffee and head out to Belmont. I'm pretty sure they all liked it. Ken liked the Alley but that's only cause the tattoo guys were complimenting his tattoos. Ego much? Lolz jk. Jive Monkey was giving out hot chocolate which was adorable. Um.. we found hilariously ugly Christmas vests in Ragstock and I was very, very close to buying one that had BALLS (ornaments) all over. A flaming black guy saw me looking in the mirror and was liek "Mm, gurrl dat look goooood!" HAHAHAHAHA. I ended up getting a very classy sweater thanks to my boo man<3 After walking around a lot we went to Clarke's for dinner. Came back here and watched Fred Claus which was actually not too bad.

Here's an adorable hat I found in (I think) Jive Money. FUCKING BUNNIES!

Saturday: Went to Millennium Park and did the tourist thing. Lots of good pictures that I'll get around to uploading never. Walk walk walk. Watched people ice skate, contemplated it for a second until noticing the 40 minute wait and 100 person fucking line. Ended up going to some restaurant Holman had googled that no one could pronounce the name of. It ended up being fucking delicious. We had a tower of onion rings, they had ribs and then we got a deep dish pizza and it was the first one I had since moving here cause I suck at being a Chicagoan. It was delicious and my belly exploded. Came back and watched Hot Rod which everyone liked but me.

Today: Slept through my alarm and a phone call and a text. Finally up around 7:30 and got sad that they were leaving. Me and Ken had breakfast and cuddled a bit until Danielle and Holman got here. Pretty much just packed their shit and left and I tried really hard not to cry but I did as soon as I walked away cause I'm a little bitch. I came back and slept til noon. Now I'm being lazy. I need to clean and finish up my John Waters paper/presentation. It's not even gonna be hard - it's actually done I just need to bullshit an extra page. But I feel pretty blah and fuck - it's Sunday and I just don't feel like getting off the couch. It's my room mate's birthday too so I gotta get her present together and maybe decorate our door.

Blah blah, 13 days til I'm home!

Sunday, November 23, 2008

I'm mentioning this now so it's not a surprise, just in case it actually moves forward:

I'm considering weight loss surgery.

Friday, November 14, 2008

We lost half of our footage from the shoot last weekend. My immediate reaction was to stomp and scream and kill. I'm over it now. Actually, it was really easy to get over after realizing that a high blood pressure ain't gonna fix shit. And this is what I'm actually pretty proud of. I've had a really, really bad temper in the past. I never had control of my emotions until I moved here. I think I've definitely become a lot more sarcastic (some people here are still trying to get used to that) but I don't think I've held any grudges or had screaming matches with anyone since moving.

It helped a lot after hearing from my teacher, Paul. I pretty much just vented about how overwhelming the situation is and how hopeless I felt. He responded by telling me his similar experiences in the past and that all this means now is that we'll have to start getting our creative juices running in order to form something out of the footage we have and that he has total faith in us.

So yeah, it totally fucking sucks. I wish we could just reshoot - fuck, we could in less than a day. But our main actor has been a douche nozzle and I just don't feel like dealing with him. So we're just gonna have to rewrite the script and, whatever, I already have a vague idea of how to work it out. Things ALWAYS work out in the end, and this is only my first project here so I'm trying really, really hard not to care.

endrant.

So Ken will be here in EIGHT days! I'm so excited, I miss him so much. Dani and Holman come a few days after and it's just gonna be such a glorious week. I didn't even realize it but two weeks later I come home! I already got my tickets and I'll be home from the night of December 12th til the night of January 22nd. I'm actually really looking forward to visiting CAPA for the first time as an alumni. Even though there are very, very few people I even wanna see, it should still be pretty fun wreaking havoc.

I've started compiling a list of things I want to do when I come home:

1. Get Wawa mac and cheese
2. Go to Sonic
3. Liberty Bell Diner
4. Oregon Diner (this can only happen with Angela and Arina, of course)
5. CAPA chaos
6. Get my first REAL christmas tree for Ken's house
7. Visit Bluebond / play some Mama Chainsaw stuff
8. Cuddle with the Bateman Bitches
9. Play Interior Designer for Danielle and Holman's new place

This list is obviously unfinished

Saturday, November 8, 2008

Going to pick up the camera, lighting kit and sound equipment in about ten minutes.
This film has cost $80 so far (costume, props, and FOOD [which was half!!]). And I don't even care. I'm so excited because WE SHOOT TONIGHT!!!

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

So I was at the Obama rally in Grant Park and it was incredible. People went nuts when he won, but in a good way. He made his speech. People screamed, people jumped, people cried. And when he departed so did we. There were no riots, nobody died, nothing had to be destroyed just because something good finally happened. I heard of riots in other cities and it's pretty pitiful. Whether they agree or disagree with the outcome, how is that violence going to change the fact that a (half) black man is now President? Just shut the fuck up and be glad that, if anything, you witnessed a new piece of history.

PS - I can't wait to find out what kind of puppy they get. I FUCKING LOVE PUPPIES.

Saturday, November 1, 2008

Reasons why today was great, regardless of the fact I only left the apartment once:

8. I rearranged the living room.
7. Sam brought home a Hellboy 2 poster.
6. I realized I have a genuine friend here. I spent 7 hours with Breanna and when she left I actually felt a little sad cause I didn't want her to go. I can't wait for her to move in with me next semester, it's gonna be incredible. She reminds me a lot of Danielle - no one will ever replace her but it's nice to know that there's more than one person in the world who I'm almost completely compatible with.
5. I bought two giant bags of candy (tootsie pops and mini take 5's) for 2 dollars. The day after Halloween sales are the fucking best. I had to stop myself from buying every 50% off thing they had.
4. I had Panera for the first time in months, probably since I worked there. Creamy tomato soup will never get old. The manager laughed after overhearing me yell at Breanna for putting the utensils in the wrong spot in the little dishes bin and we had some Panera-talk which was hilarious. I miss that place sometimes, only for the fact that there really were some fucking characters there.
3. Me and Breanna watched my old Manson DVD. I literally haven't watched it for at least 5 years. It was nice connecting with my inner mall goth and reminiscing about how fucking ugly and greasey I was.
2. I'm eating home made pumpkin pie right now thanks to Britt.

And the number 1 reason why my day was so great.

1. KEN BOUGHT HIS TICKET TO VISIT. He'll be landing in Chicago at 12:15 pm on Monday, November 24th. I'm so fucking excited, I don't have words to describe how much I miss him and can't wait to be in his arms. Fuck it, I don't care how lame this all sounds. I love him so much and some days I really can't contemplate how I'm going to live 4 years here without him being here to help me through it. It's been so hard but I'm also really proud that we're making it through it.

LOVELOVELOVE.

My boyfriend sent me this magical bowl overflowing with candy. Thanks to him, I've been eating more chocolate than I breathe air.

Though I haven't had to argue with my parents about this in a while, most fights regarding school had to do with my major and what I'll be doing after graduation and, of course, what my back-up plan is. I figured if the film industry is a flop I'd just become a teacher, but I'm not so sure how high a demand there is for film teachers.

Then today I was talking to my room mate about what I wanted to be when I was younger - a mortician. And how someone told me I'd have to go through years of medical school and blah blah and I immediately dismissed the idea. But today, being reminded of my 13 year old plans, I looked up requirements of a funeral director, and low and behold I found that you can go to college for pretty much anything as long as you have a certain amount of credit hours (the requirements differ within each state), and within those hours you have to have at least Biology I, English Comp I and II, and any Humanities class. Once you fill these requirements there are year long programs (I found one here in Illinois called the Worsham School of Mortuary Science) that will provide you will either a diploma in Mortuary Science or an Associates Degree of Applied Science and then POOF - you're licensed to become a Funeral Director!

I think this is definitely a solid back up plan. Of course I hope my future lies in the film industry, but I think I'd still be content if I end up resorting to my new back up plan.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

Yesterday felt like a week. I was up at 5:30 to work on set for this student production "Moonshine". 15 fucking hours - half of which was spent outside in the blistering Chicago cold (I learned to love those bean heat pads) - and it was still a better experience than the last set I was on. The producer was nice enough to give me a ride, we had Panera for breakfast, pizza for lunch/dinner, and lots of snacks and coffee. I worked closely with the script supervisor, Mike, who was the definition of awkward nerd but he sang Britney Spears to me a lot which was hilarious. Logan, a TA for the other MIP class, was one of the actors so I talked with him a lot as well, we even ended up taking the train back together. The other actor, Eddie, was this older guy, I'd say mid 40's, who you could tell was having the time of his life hanging out with a bunch of a college kids. The last shot was of Logan's character knocking at Eddie's chracter's door. The shot was from outside, and regardless of the fact that we were all so tired and just wanted to leave, we bribed Eddie to answer the door with his pants down - AND HE FUCKING DID. I don't think the people working from outside appreciated it much, but I never laughed so hard in my life.

Really though, I didn't mind the long hours at all considering the people were fun and I had a good time. It made me even more excited for my shoot which is only two weeks away!! I'm actually working on the script right now, and the further along I get the more I just want November 8th to come! I'm meeting with my costume and make-up team tomorrow - one of which (Connor) is a friend of Sam's. She told me the other day that he's actually nervous to work for me and wants to practice make-up on her so he can make sure he does a good job on set (he's responsible for all 8 of the dead people in my movie) and it just makes me really happy that people actually want to work with me and want to do a good job, regardless that this is only a freshman film.

AHHHHHHH, LOVING ITTTT.

Saturday, October 11, 2008

Tonight I went to a party and was uncomfortable and sweaty and my head hurt and I was hungry and it was loud and the alcohol was warm and the people were strangers and I never wanted to go home so bad.

One of Sam's friends left with me so I wouldn't get gang banged on the train. I'm home now, in my Cartman PJs, bundled up under a blanket, eating generic mac and cheese, drinking peach tea and watching Katt Williams and I'm sosososo content.

I'm tired of trying to party and failing miserably. I don't get anything out of it, really. I don't like drinking and I don't like being in a loud area unless it's actually a band playing and not some shitty playlist crackily blaring from a laptop. And I especially don't like strangers. I'm kind of tired of trying to explain myself to new people. "Oh, I know I called you ugly and stupid a minute ago but you see, there's this thing called sarcasm..."

I don't know if I'm ranting or not, I guess I'm just trying to tell myself that it's okay not to feed into the whole "LAWL I'M IN COLLEGE LET'S PARTY!!!!!!!!" Yeah, I definitely choose pajamas and Katt Williams over a hangover.

GUESS WHAT I'M DOING TOMORROW AT 3:45?!?!?!?!

YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT - A JOB INTERVIEW FOR FUCKING DUNKIN DONUTS!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAHHHH HAZELNUT COFFEE AND EVERYTHING BAGELS ALL THE TIIIIIIIIIME.

Shitty:
My insurance won't cover my procedure. As of now I owe $1400.

I was left with $6.22 in my back account last week until finally deciding to crack into my savings.

I've applied to at least 20 places so far. These are who I can remember off the top of my head:
  1. Jamba Juice
  2. Borders
  3. TJ Maxx
  4. Ethel's Chocolate Lounge
  5. Home Depot
  6. Sephora
  7. Hyatt
  8. Office Assistant to the Fiction Dept.
  9. School library
  10. Omaha Steaks
  11. Heathcare receptionist
  12. DSW
  13. The Alley
  14. Hollywood Mirror
Not so shitty:
My parents are visiting next week.

A month after that - Ken, Danielle and Holman are visiting for Thanksgiving.

Two weeks after that - I'll be home for a month and a half.

I did laundry yesterday so now I have underwear (even though I was getting used to going commando.)

Classes are good. I aced my first Foundations of Moving Image Art test.

I started working out again. Hopefully this will last more than a week.

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

I got to see How to Lose Friends and Alienate People before the rest of the world does tomorrow. Oh, did I mention it was FREEEEEE.

Film school has it's perks.

The meeting with the Moonshine guy is tomorrow. He called me saying he thinks they found a script supervisor but he still wants to meet with me so hopefully he'll have another job lined up for me. If not, I just contacted someone about being a line producer for their film in December that actually sounds fucking hilarious. Some guy gets a male blow up doll in the mail accidentally, starts questioning his sexuality, yada yada. Sounds good, hopefully I can get in on that.

Hopefully

After working shit for Tomorrow Land as the script supervisor's bitch / doing whatever the fuck anyone else told me to do on a college shoot for just an Independent Study (when I asked what the movie was for the response was, "Oh, uh, well he wants to try to send it to like, a festival err something" I may actually be moving up as soon as this afternoon.

Today, sometime after 4, I should be meeting up with who I assume to be either the Director or AD to talk about Moonshine, their production - their ADVANCED fucking Production (these are usually senior shoots). And not just as some lousy PA - as THE fucking script supervisor. A freshman. On a senior shoot. As a script supervisor.

I don't know who knows what about the industry, but if I were to become a script supervisor in rEaL LiFe, I'd make $35 an hour. Yes, that's how important the script supervisor is.

Fucking cross your fingers for me cause this could be the shit.

I've never felt pride for Philadelphia until very, very recently. When people ask where I'm from and I say "Philly" they're usually impressed, even after I tell them how dirty and mean it is and that we were the murder capital of the country and that I didn't even live in the city, just went to school there... they still think I'm some golden god. I think it sparked when I saw the Philly restaurant in Belmont. And now, I'm acknowledging it even moreso. Today the Eagles are playing the Bears here in Chicago. So far I've seen two yellow school busses drop off Eagles-jersey clad armies; there is a bar downstairs and I've heard the Eagles chant about 5 times in the past hour... regardless that I am 17 stories up.

***

I worked on my first set yesterday. 9 hours, right by the lake. People started randomly jumping in and the AD got mad because pEoPlE nEEdz 2 be SeRiOuS!!!! Okay, on a fucking college production in 345678 degree weather carrying 50lb cases full of equipment... oh, did I mention we're all doing this FOR FREE? Yeah, stfu, I think they deserve a dive in the fucking lake.

Otherwise, it was actually pretty cool. I worked with the script superviser, taking notes and timing all the shots. When I wasn't doing that I was hanging around the art/makeup department. I met a girl named Mischa and she painted my face. And when I wasn't doing that I was doing whatever they fucking told me to do cause PAs aren't shit. I was supposed to go back today but I'm really sore and my pussy just exploded so now I'm even more sore. They won't miss me though, so I don't even feel too obligated to be there. We had like at least 15 PAs. There was always at least 5 PAs not doing anything at all times just because it doesn't take 30 hands to move a cart of C stands.

Setting up

Fucking sweet ass view

Camera rehearsal with the Mad Scientist and Colonel Kroach. The dude in brown was the director, Chuck.

Dani wearing the Colonel Kroach hat

Friday I went to the Field Museum with Breanna and it was fucking awesome! I love that place so much. We took a million pictures but I gotta get that bitch to send them to me. We saw the Evolving Planet exhibit which was the shit. And then we went to the Ancient Egypt exhibit and then McDonalds and then the gift shop where I got a Green Tara poster and a fucking sweet ass Mexican sugar skull necklace and like 20 postcards since they were 10cents each so if you want one gimme your address!!

Oddest mix of emotions yesterday.

I went to Belmont St. with a bunch of hoes and as soon as I got off the train I was just like HOLY SHIT THIS IS SOUTH STREET. And I just felt so weird, it was a little unreal to me, mostly because I wasn't expecting it. I didn't feel homesick, I think I was just reminiscing a lot, especially about sophomore year and that ugly group of homos I spent 90% of my time with.

Anyway, so I'm walking and thinking and got a little sad cause even though they were some ugly bitches I miss it sometimes and it's weird to think how much time has passed and how far apart some of us have grown and how farfarfar I'm from it all right now and then BAM I see this:

Motherfucker caught me off guard and I got a little upset but then I went in to see if they had cheesesteaks, not because I wanted one, but because I wanted to tear them a new ass hole if they were made wrong.

Monday, September 15, 2008

I had lunch with a drag queen today

So our gay club is called Common Ground and after every meeting a bunch of people go to Thai Spoon for lunch. Me and Breanna wanted bubble tea and/or sushi so we thought why the hell not. They put a bunch of tables together so we could all sit together and I ended up sitting with Charlie, Tasha and Jacob. We got to talking and Jacob kept mentioning this woman named Sally. "Sally's such a bitch, blah blah" and finally I'm like, who the fuck is Sally?

He asked if I'm a new student. Yes. And if I was at Convocation. Yes. He then asked if I saw the drag queen (not the one with the beard)? Yeah she was hot. "That was me."

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Now Add them up and......

Thursday, September 11, 2008

So I had the procedure done today and it fucking sucked. But I'm okay now so it's all good in the hood. Probably not going to class tonight cause I'm pretty beat but hopefully tomorrow my vag will be in a better place.

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Although I don't have MIP until tomorrow, my teacher Paul was at MIA today. I was early to class like always and took a seat right by the door. Paul saw me from outside and pointed at me with a big smile. I smiled back too because he's fucking adorable and I want him to love me so bad. He comes in asking how I am, how my weekend was, etcetc. He starts talking about the observation assignment to my MIA teacher, Jill, then turns to me saying something like, "Yours will definitely be used to exemplify this project to future classes, it was so in depth and (he places his hands against the wall, a foot between them) on the paradigm of student work, it was all the way over here (he points to his right hand). I'm so impressed, it was just, uh, uh.. (this is where he gets a bit anxious and adorable and fidgets between words). In the end he pretty much just said the same message but in different ways and even though I sat still in my seat my eyes and smile were huge and my brain was orgasming BECAUSE PAUL FUCKING LOVES ME.

We watched Citizen Kane in class and it was just a very good day. I started exercising every morning and I think that's also having an effect on my good moods.

This is why I get along with my room mate:

"What could Miley Cyrus even be nominated for? Landing some old guy in jail?"

Sunday, September 7, 2008

I've been watching Scrubs online starting from the beginning of the first season. I'm now on episode 8 in the second season and Perry just called J.D. Sabrina.

YES. IT'S STILL COOL AFTER WATCHING IT FOUR TIMES.

Saturday, September 6, 2008

So in my MIP class (Moving Image Production) our homework was pretty much just to people watch. We were to go to Millennium park and take notes on, uh, people. We were also told to discuss our observation with our production group, so Will Smith and the Bel Airs met up yesterday around 5:30. I seemed to be the only person actually interested in the assignment. Noone else had any good notes - one kid made his up and another didn't even do it yet. Okay, whatever. We barely talked about our observations and I almost punched the kid Eric. We started talking about script writing - because this observation project is going to lead into our first script - and it turned out that I was the only person with any experience with screenwriting. Eric turns to me and says "Well, I have a program that just formats it for me so I don't need to learn it." I tell him that's cheating and that there's more to screenwriting than just the format. He says "Bullshit" and I then ask him what a paradigm is. He doesn't know.

He also goes on to say that his ideas are strictly "full lengths" and that he hates "artsy" films and shorts. NO. SHUT UP. IF YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO WRITE A SCREENPLAY THAN HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT YOUR "IDEAS" ARE FUCKING MOVIE WORTHY TO BEGIN WITH? I HATE YOU, ERIC, AND I WANT TO CRACK YOU IN HALF. DIE.

Anyway, so I'm typing up my observations and couldn't figure out where to post them on Moodle so I emailed my teacher, Paul (who's fucking adorable, I love him so much.) I get a response within three minutes which starts off:

Sabrina, Hello
Your dedication and focus thus far is incredible...

YES I WIN.

Classes have been so good. There's too much for me to describe every little detail but today I had my first Biology of Human Reproduction Class. I think the teacher's name is Sharon and she's left handed. I read a while ago on ratemyprofessors.com that she looks like a mix of Uma Thurman and Joan Cusack and jesus christ she does! I leaned more toward Uma though I guess since she's blonde, so the entire time I just thought of Kill Bill and wished Sharon would bust out and rip someone's head off in the midst of discussing the scientific method. Someone after class thought she looked like Courtney Love but I disagreed because she wasn't dirty enough.

Anyway, so we did bullshit introductions the last twenty minutes of class. She wrote on the board what we should say:

major, year, from, work, interesting/fav sound

This was my introduction:

Hi my name's Sabrina and I'm a freshman film major. I just moved here from Philadelphia. I'm not working now but back home I worked at Panera where I gained a lot of weight. Before that I worked at a pet store cleaning up dog shit. Interesting? Well some people think it's funny that I'm Jewish. I also play drums and was in a punk rock band back in Philly but I played violin for seven years and for some reason people think that's funny too.

Sharon laughed then asked why that would be funny and then remembered she just laughed. Everyone laughed, and I felt good because I didn't even feel like being funny. I think I spoke in monotone the entire time. Today was a lazy day so I was just too tired to care about being funny, especially since it was a night class but hurrah, I seem to be a comedic genius regardless.

I have to have a "procedure" done on my vagina and since I'm not home to see my usual GYN Lori, I have to see someone new here - David A. Baum. I googled him and someone rated him on vitals.com. All stars except on his medical school, where he lost one star. He's been practicing for 19 years and looks like this:

Creep? Eh. I don't give a shit as long as those eyebrows don't fall into my pussy.

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

So my first class yesterday - Foundations of Moving Image Art - was the shiiiit.

Started off by getting into our assigned production groups. We were told to give ourselves better names than "Group 1, Group 2, Group 3." Noone could come up with anything so I told them about how upset I still am over the whole venus flytrap incident and said we should name ourselves in memory of them - Will Smith and the Bel Airs. They all agreed except one girl, who I don't even really think disagreed, I just don't think she understood why it was fucking hilarious. My group consists of Eric the tall blonde kid, Sam the jew, Dani who likes trail mix, and Britt the retard with no sense of humor. Jkjk, they all seem cool, but yeah. Eric is Will and Sam is Carlton and Dani is Jeffrey. I think I'm just "Philadelphia" and Britt is nothing because she just doesn't get it.

So we took notes about basic film language and blah blah, bullshit I already knew. A bit about the history of editing (this is for my own benefit/to see what kind of memory I have - Lumiere brothers, George Melies, Edwin S. Porter, DW Griffith, Soviet Montage, Kushtov Effect.. yeah that last one's probably wrong but HURRAH I WIN.)

Anyway, that took about an hour, then both pilot groups met in the screening room. We watched a clip from "High and Low" by Akira Kurosawa and discussed the editing and transitions, etcetc. Then we screened "Dog Day Afternoon" in its entirety which was fucking hilarious. Discussed it a bit afterwards and off we went.

We do all this online stuff on this site called Moodle and every week two people are paired to do this thing called "What Happened in Class" and it's basically the notes and then our perspectives on how the class went. Me and this douche nozzle Ryan were paired. He doesn't know how to share or work together so he just went home and did half of it and then told me when he was done and then I did the rest. Whatever. It turned out decent despite the fact that he's retarded and the coordinator of the program ended up emailing me saying what a good job I did and that we set "such a high standard" blah blah. I AM TEH AWESOMEZ.

So now I'm headed to my second class - Moving Image Production - which I'm so excited about because the teacher is god damn adorable. Even my room mate loves him. (PS - the whole room mate thing is going swell. We have too much in common and she's already trying to hook me up with a tutoring job. It's only 10 hours a week and fucking $12 AN HOUR. YESYES ROLLIN IN THE BENJAMINZZZ)

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

I have class in a little less than two hours and I'M SO FUCKING ANXIOUS. To the point where I'm nauseous and I can't eat, which is complete bullshit cause I went to bed hungry so wtf? I started freaking out that I couldn't eat so I decided to take a break from my generic frosted flakes to get ready. In mid eyeliner there was a knock at the door. She was a really fidgety blond girl who apologized a lot for showing up unannounced. "I'm Samantha, I'm on the 20th floor right now but I've just been reassigned to your room."

FUCK YEAH NEW ROOM MATE.

So I let her in and showed her the place, we got to talking and she said she works til 5 so she'll be bringing her shit afterwards. I mentioned my class is over then so I'll be here the same time. When I told her it was a class for the pilot program she flipped shit - she's a TA for the pilot program! HAH. Talktalktalk, she's a sophomore/senior - she's graduating two years early. I asked about that and she got "in" with Don Smith, who's the coordinator of the pilot program and by this time she was kind of doing mental back flips, saying how excited she is and blah blah, and before she left she said she's gonna get me the hook up in the film department and introduce me one on one with Don Smith.

YESYESYESYESYEYSHEIHGJVBDNGDFG.

Monday, September 1, 2008

So me, Marissa and Rachel went to the Canal St. flea market yesterday and I GOT A MOTHERFUCKING BIKE. So fucking cool. He wanted 45 but the back break is broke so I got him down to 30 HOLLA HOLLA. I also got a brand new alarm clock for 5.

Anyway, I'm so excited about Hercules. That's the bike's name and no we didn't name him ourselves, but it fucking says Hercules on the side of the bike which is hilarious.

Anyway, here it is:

I start classes tomorrow and I'm so excited/nervous. I can't wait to ride my new bike and wear my new back pack and write with new pens and on new paper in my new binder. YES.

And I still don't have a room mate. This school can get pretty unorganized so maybe they'll just forget I need one and I'll get to walk around naked ALL THE TIME. As I am now. I wish I wasn't fat or I'd be naked all the time.
